• Psychiatric Evaluation & Diagnosis

When you request an appointment, we’ll speak briefly over the phone so we can discuss if I can provide you with appropriate care prior to taking up your time.

In our initial consultation, I’ll ask you about yourself, address any questions you may have for me, and begin a collaborative conversation about how to work together.

• Therapy

Talk therapy, or psychotherapy, is a tool that can increase your quality of life. Individual therapy can help you understand yourself, change how you think or act, make important decisions, adapt to major changes, find patterns in your current or past relationships, grieve over the loss of a loved one, make connections between your past and present realities, and learn how to deal with difficult people in your life.

We will take into consideration what you are struggling with and your past experiences with therapy to find a type of therapy that is appropriate for your current situation.

• Medication Management

Psychopharmacology is part of my clinical training. All medication management will be collaboratively discussed with you to determine if it is necessary for treatment. Medication is just one form of treatment that you may benefit from in our work together. Other forms of treatment include different types of therapy, meditation, nutrition, exercise, coaching, and behavioral changes.

• Personal & Life Coaching

You may prefer a more straightforward, problem-solving style that focuses on a particular dilemma you have in your life. With coaching, we will focus on crafting specific goals for you and exploring potential behaviors that may be holding you back in your relationships or career.

• Parent/Caregiver & Academic Coaching

With a rich background as a special education teacher and classroom counselor working with adolescents who struggle with emotional, academic, and behavioral issues, I am in a unique position to understand how to best work with your child and you towards their academic and personal success.

My experience includes working with teenagers with mood, behavioral, and learning disorders related to anxiety, depression, trauma, eating issues, fighting with peers, destroying property, arguing with teachers and authority, impulsivity, inattention, obsessive-compulsive traits, experimenting with drugs, and difficulty with reading, writing, and math.

Adolescence is a difficult time developmentally, so sometimes teenagers with learning disabilities struggle academically and may have a pattern of behavioral acting out. Particularly when there is also a predisposition for depression or anxiety present, families and caregivers often find it overwhelming to help their child.

As parents or caregivers, it is hard to know exactly how to ensure the academic and psychological wellbeing of your children without support. You may find that your attempts to help your child are actually straining your relationship and causing stress in the household. Drawing from my experience, I can help you and your family with an individualized approach that may involve practicing behavior changes, undergoing individual or family therapy, implementing consistency in a busy schedule, and integrating medications, if necessary.

• Psychoeducational Evaluations & Letters for Academic Accommodations

Psychoeducational or neuropsychological evaluations are often used to help children, adolescents, and adults determine if they may have any learning disabilities, difficulties paying attention, or processing strengths and weaknesses. Making the appropriate diagnosis can positively impact someone’s ability to achieve their academic and professional goals. In addition, diagnosis can help create an individualized treatment plan with the most appropriate accommodations for school, standardized testing, and the workplace. Oftentimes, letters and formal evaluations can support people in getting the accommodations that they need to succeed.

• Independent Education Evaluations (IEEs)

In the school setting, an individualized education plan (IEP) helps students develop goals to support their learning and access special education services. Sometimes parents or caregivers disagree with the school’s evaluation of their child and an independent education evaluation (IEE) helps provide more information to determine the child’s appropriate needs.

• Special Education Consultation Services

Navigating the school system and being knowledgeable of the rights of someone with learning disabilities, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be confusing and overwhelming. With the help of a special education consultant who is also a licensed special education teacher, we will help you advocate and navigate these steps for the help that you need.
